Google Analytics Introduces "AI Assistant" as a Default Channel Group

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) has officially introduced a new default channel group called “AI Assistant”, making it easier for businesses to track traffic coming from AI chatbots like OpenAI ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude. Previously, traffic from AI platforms was grouped under the generic “Referral” category. Website owners had to manually create custom channel groups using regex patterns to identify AI-generated visits. With this update, GA4 now automatically recognises supported AI assistant referrers and categorises them under the new AI Assistant channel. The update also automatically assigns the following: Medium: AI assistant Channel Group: AI Assistant Campaign Label: ai-assistant This means businesses can now clearly measure how AI platforms are driving website traffic and user engagement without any manual setup. Google says the feature is designed to help marketers understand how generative AI contributes to website discovery and conversions compared to traditio...

Liquid Web WordPress Plugin Rebrand Triggers Backlash

Liquid Web recently faced heavy criticism from the WordPress community after rebranding and restructuring several popular plugin brands under a new software lineup. The sudden transition created confusion among users, especially long-time plugin customers and lifetime deal holders. The controversy began after well-known WordPress products previously managed under the StellarWP brand were moved into the Liquid Web by Nexcess ecosystem. Plugins like Kadence, LearnDash, GiveWP, and The Events Calendar were consolidated into four core products, while brands such as SolidWP, Iconic, Restrict Content Pro, and MemberDash were merged into existing platforms. Much of the backlash came from unclear communication and years of branding changes between Nexcess and Liquid Web. After Liquid Web acquired Nexcess in 2019, both companies repeatedly shifted branding strategies. By 2026, Nexcess re-emerged as a “speciality cloud" brand, while Liquid Web became its managed hosting division. This overl...

Google Quietly Changed How Search Terms Are Reported For Some AI Queries

Google has quietly updated its Google Ads documentation, and the change could significantly impact how advertisers interpret Search Terms Reports in AI-powered search experiences. The update states that search terms shown for experiences like AI Mode, AI Overviews, Google Lens, and autocomplete may no longer reflect the exact words typed by users. Instead, Google may display an interpreted version of the user’s intent. This marks a major shift in how advertisers understand search behaviour. Traditionally, search term reports helped marketers identify customer intent, build negative keyword lists, improve ad targeting, and monitor brand safety. Advertisers generally trusted that the reported terms closely matched what users actually searched. Now, with AI-powered search becoming more conversational and context-driven, Google appears to be normalising or summarising queries before showing them in reports. For example, a user interacting with an AI search through multiple prompts or image...

7 Common AI Website Mistakes That Are Easy To Avoid

AI website builders and vibe coding tools make it easier than ever to create modern websites. But many AI-generated websites still face the same problems — generic design, confusing user experience, weak branding, and unclear messaging. The issue is not AI itself, but relying too much on AI without human creativity and strategy. 1. Generic Design Trends Many AI websites look similar because AI tools reuse popular styles like purple gradients, bento-box layouts, and generic dashboards. While they may appear modern, they often lack originality and brand identity. 2. Distracting Animations Overused hover effects, cursor-following lights, automatic fade-ins, and moving buttons can distract visitors instead of improving the experience. Good design should support the message, not take attention away from it. 3. Confusing User Experience AI-generated websites sometimes include scroll hijacking, inconsistent navigation, and hidden interactions. These features can frustrate users and make we...

OpenAI Launches Self-Serve Ads Manager for ChatGPT

OpenAI has taken a major step forward in digital advertising by launching a self-serve ads manager for ChatGPT. This new update allows advertisers to create, manage, and optimise campaigns directly, marking a shift from limited pilot programmes to a more accessible advertising platform. One of the most significant additions is cost-per-click (CPC) bidding. Earlier, ads were mainly based on impressions (CPM), but CPC now gives marketers better control by allowing them to pay only when users engage. This makes ChatGPT ads more performance-driven and aligns them with how advertisers already operate on platforms like Google and Meta. Another important upgrade is improved conversion tracking. With tools like Conversions API and pixel tracking, advertisers can now measure real outcomes such as purchases, sign-ups, and leads. At the same time, OpenAI maintains strong privacy standards by providing only aggregated data, ensuring that personal user conversations remain protected. Although the p...
